چکیده

This letter presents a gripper module for snake-like robot to perform search and rescue tasks in narrow space. The proposed has three features: (1) It can accommodate the fingers inside its body. (2) that grip objects with irregular surfaces stably. (3) One of is equipped camera on fingertip To implement above features small, light, compact module, we propose novel design eight degrees freedom. joint configuration unique compared general-type gripper. A prototype been integrated into demonstrate capability performing collapsed environment. are experimentally verified: it light (0.4 kg), small (less than 68 mm diameter), powerful (grasping force = 2.48kgf).

Robot-Sensor Networks for Search and Rescue

In order to fulfill its mission, a search and rescue system must be able to both quickly and reliably locate victims within the search space. Current search and rescue approaches generally rely on either teleoperated robots, or teams of wireless robots. Since typically the robots used in these systems employ sophisticated hardware components and are few in number, system cost tends to be high a...

Evaluation of the Scout Robot for Urban Search and Rescue

A group of miniature mobile robots called Scouts were tested in the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) course used in the RoboCup Rescue competition at IJCAI 2001. This testing was to evaluate the utility of using small robots with limited mobility and sensing constraints in the unstructured and chaotic environments present in disaster areas where USAR operations are required. The Scouts and their ...

Analysis of Human-Robot Interaction for Urban Search and Rescue

This paper describes two robot systems designed for urban search and rescue (USAR). Usability tests were conducted to compare the two interfaces developed for humanrobot interaction (HRI) in this domain, one of which emphasized three-dimensional mapping while the other design emphasized the video feed. We found that participants desired a combination of the interface design approaches. Addition...
